In September 2010 Memorygirl was challenged by a Mystery Mentor to become the trailblazer in an exciting new transatlantic experiment.

She was to be the first amongst her group of online friends to be mentored to create a Financially and Spiritually Abundant life from the ashes of her previous pre-credit crunch life.

For the full background, go to:
http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.php?t=2445739&page=76 and search for post 1506.

Supported by her online cheerleaders, she accepted the challenge - and will do her best to fulfil and excel at the tasks set by her mysterious transatlantic mentor.

All her online friends are invited to play along - because if Memorygirl drops the baton for Britain, someone else will be selected to be mentored in her place.

Let this exciting adventure begin .....

Challenge 2 - Clear the Decks

I hope you enjoyed “Pursuit of Happyness” – yes, I was keeping an eye on what was happening.
OK – so you have sold 30 books in a week. You have the makings of a Business – it is where I started after all.

You built a web presence in 2 hours and you have gathered 30 followers, on a Sunday evening, in less than three hours – you have the critical mass to begin to grow a community that benefits you all. Congratulations – you pass challenge 1.

Challenge 2: You have 4 days to get ready for building a business that rocks. You now to get very real about what is about to happen over the next few weeks and that is going to mean making some serious choices. After your boys, this is going to have to be your TOP priority, so clean you house, clear your diary and sort yourself somewhere to work that means you can be productive and happy.

Most importantly I want you to start saying, “Yes” to every offer of help that people make to you. I want you to start accepting assistance with good grace – until you are happy receiving help – how can you be the one offering help from a position of strength and stability. Every offer of help made to you is made honourably and with the best for all concerned – accept in the manner it is given.

I challenge your friends to move forward being aware that at some point they might themselves in a position to help you – or may find themselves moved to go above and beyond for what I think is a pretty deserving cause. Know that I too believe in the law of Karma or reciprocity – what you give will return to you seven-fold.

Remember Memorygirl you will owe these people a debt in the future that I expect you to spend a lifetime joyfully repaying to others in kind.

I will be back on Thursday with your next challenge.

This is bigger than you alone – but you are a pretty good place to start a revolution.

Mr Big (because it made me laugh to be compared as such)

  1. Ooooh Mr Big is a Sex and the City fan too. What a challenge to wake up to. Hope you've slept soundly MG because it sounds like the next four days of your life are going to be jam packed full of events.

Pootles back to bed to work out what the heck is meant by Mr Bigs cryptic message wondering vaguely how you get to be a blogger of note and have your blog recommended by the blogger dashboard upon sign in which would rapidly up your circulation.... and to think I only got up for a glass of water.

  2. I am thinking that if each of us link this blog to our facebook profiles (I am sure you can do that somehow... I am not sure I can remember how though...!), then our facebook friends will also see it, swelling our numbers even further.

MG, the skills I have, I offer to you...I am an accountant, specialising in budgeting and strategic accounting, though I have also been trained in the bookkeeping side of things as well. This is my profession. I sometimes have ideas about marketing :). I am a good editor/sub editor and proof reader and I can sing! Not sure how useful that would be to you, but I am offering!! :) Oh, and I am a pretty good needlewoman, though my sewing needs a bit of work!! :)

  3. Okay, here's how you link it to Facebook - at the bottom of the post of the challenge, there is a little bar which has some symbols on it. On my computer it is greyed out, I am not sure whether it is for everyone. I just clicked of the facebook F, and then wrote this in the link.

"This is something truly amazing, and just starting. I have been involved on the MSE website referred to in the blog, and this is really exciting. Go and have a look, and see if you are as excited by this as I am! :)"

I wonder if it will work?

  4. Hi MG and well done on meeting the first challenge in record breaking time. I too offer my services. I am trained in many disciplines but I guess that it is best to say that my expertise is Admin of all kinds. If you want a super duper PA then I am your person. Or if you want anything at all then ask and if I can do it I will, if I cant I am sure I could learn fast or provide a contact. Now, I have added a link to you from my blog. I have written a piece about you on my blog too. I dont have as many followers as you but as Firewalker is the expert at numbers I am sure that every little helps. I have also linked you to my facebook and will head over to put something on my twitter account too. Looking forward to hearing all about your work space for challenge 2.

  5. Hi MG - I am a PA in real life, and love language, spelling, grammar etc etc. I can help with admin tasks and/or proof-reading, and if you lived closer, could help with babysitting, but Sussex to Fife is a wee bit too far, even for me and my DD in our super car! I also speak French and reasonably good German.

Given that someone above me can sing, I can play the flute and piano (badly), so we can always start a band to spread the word ;)

When I'm on another computer, I'll link you in to my Facebook too.

    This is all very exciting!

  6. This is all getting very exciting - not sure what I can offer though - I'm a Computer Programmer but did my Masters in Mathematics. I work for a University in the North East of Sunny Scotland and in relation to the other posts I definately can't sing. Good luck with your adventure and I'll help in what ever way I can x

  7. I don't use Facebook or Twitter, so can't spread the word that way, but wondered if it might be worth putting a biog on Wikipedia. There's lots of info about you on the Web but it's fragmented. Could be worth pulling it together so people can see just how much you've done with your life so far (which I'm sure will be surpassed by what you'll acccomplish from here on in) the books you've published etc.

If there's anything I can do, you only have to ask: remember what Mr Big said about accepting help!

  8. I did wonder what skills I have to offer, then I realised.....food....I love to cook and bake.
    Especially for parties and gatherings.

I do a very scrummy New York Style Cheesecake perfect for us SATC girls.

  9. Fresh from Paris - in fact really wiped out from Paris but had to try this one. I was wondering in what area my contribution can be. And in line with my Victory Log have tried to come up with some of my gifts. Believe these are: research, analysis, popularisation. Also I am not only a creator of things - I am a natural critic. Give me an idea and I'll imediately see where the holes are - and help fill them in.

Oh, and I know a bit about philosophy, sociology, social science, psychology and social network analisys is one of my favourite methods of research. Love to solve riddles and figure out things. Apart from this I scored very high for Aspergers (not clinical but close) - probably this is why I am better when I write than face to face.

    And I am Maria.
